At Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis, Missouri, esports was already on the map, with a dedicated club and coach leading the charge. However, Richmond Lingard, a passionate gamer and club member, envisioned more. He sought equal recognition for esports alongside traditional sports, and he was determined to make it happen.
With a clear vision in mind, Richmond sought out support from a few friends and guidance from other clubs and colleges in the local area. He wanted to learn from their experiences and gain valuable insights to shape his own initiative. Through these connections, he refined his idea and developed a plan.
In 2021, Richmond created the concept for the Esports Leadership Society. Over the next two years, with the support of his mother and his friend Azaiah Vadan’s mom Dr. Sara Vidan, they recognized outstanding students in 2022 and 2023, acknowledging their dedication and talent in esports. Finally, in 2024, he established the official board for the Esports Leadership Society, solidifying its presence and paving the way for future growth.
Esports has a rich history spanning over two decades. From humble beginnings to sold-out arenas, esports has evolved into a global phenomenon.
